The Corvette C1 was produced from 1953 through 1962. In 1956 the Corvette underwent its first major body transformation and established it as a true performance car.
The C2 Corvette was produced between 1963 and 1967 at the St. Louis assembly plant. It is commonly referred to as the second generation or “Mid-Year” Chevrolet Corvette.
The C3 Corvette started in 1968 and ended in 1982. In 1969, the 350 cu in (5.7 L) engine became available in the Corvette, and in 1970, the 427 big block was enlarged to 454 cu in (7.4 L).
The C4 Corvette was introduced at the close of 1982 production as a 1984 model and ended in 1996. There’s no such thing as a “1983 Corvette” (though 44 prototype 1983s were built).
The C5 produced 1997-2004. Designed from the outset as a sturdy convertible, the car now had a hydroformed box frame and the transmission was moved to the rear of the car.
The C6 Corvette was produced from 2005 to 2013. It is the first Corvette with exposed headlamps (as opposed to hidden headlamps) since the 1962 model.
